چکیده

The flexibility of wireless connectivity is appealing in the context of real-time industrial networks. This paper discusses the use of wireless communication protocols to interconnect remotely located fieldbuses. The focus of this paper is to analyze the feasibility and design issues related to this type of hybrid real-time network architecture. Investigations are presented by addressing an interconnection through the well-mastered WiFi technology. On an example architecture, we discuss the impact of the different distributed medium access protocols available (DCF, EDCA) on the real-time flows. We outline the main design issues related to these choices and illustrate them on a first case study where remotely located CAN buses are interconnected through an IEEE802.11g network in DCF mode. Using this very simple and cost-effective architecture, we show as a first result that transmitting soft real-time data over such an architecture is feasible. Keywords-Hybrid real-time networks, interconnection, IEEE802.11, DCF, EDCA

RSVP for LEO satellites

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is working on extending the traditional TCP/IP model for supporting multimedia and real-time applications on the Internet. Thus, new protocols have been developed such as the Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP). At the same time, there has been a growing interest in using Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. In the near future, when the Internet with mul...

Enabling QoE Learning and Prediction of WebRTC Video Communication in WiFi Networks

Real-time video communication is becoming more and more important in our daily life. WebRTC-based video communication technique has attracted a lot of attentions recently. Its user Quality-of-Experience (QoE), however, faces challenges in wireless networks. This paper studies the problem of accurate prediction of QoE of WebRTC in WiFi networks. We first propose a real-time video QoE metric whic...

Mining Overlapping Communities in Real-world Networks Based on Extended Modularity Gain

Detecting communities plays a vital role in studying group level patterns of a social network and it can be helpful in developing several recommendation systems such as movie recommendation, book recommendation, friend recommendation and so on. Most of the community detection algorithms can detect disjoint communities only, but in the real time scenario, a node can be a member of more than one ...
